Written: 30 week update

Today is a big deal.  Grandma hit 30 weeks and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted.  I know "they" say that babies have a good shot of surviving if they're born at 28 weeks, but each week past that feels like a bonus.  Things are going so well; we couldn't have asked for a more smooth pregnancy given our situation.  We are so blessed and I don't know how our hearts could be any more full.

The nursery is really coming along.  I found the perfect curtain fabric, then our Hobby Lobby was stuck on back order.  So I called around and drove an hour to get 5 yards of it.  Well worth it, because it's going to look amazing.  My brother is almost done designing a big guitar print for the wall (SO cute!) and the pegboard is hung with baskets and shelves for cute little baby things.  Our first baby shower is in 2.5 weeks.  I can't wait to really get things wrapped up.  Then we just wait for baby!

Our favorite nurse from the fertility clinic bets that baby is here closer to Thanksgiving.  If she's right, that gives me a month and a half.  Time to panic!

Written: A little Q&A

I thought this would be fun to do throughout the pregnancy, but I forgot all about it until now.  Better late than never, right?

How far along:  28 weeks, 2 days
Total weight gain: from invitro to now, 29 lbs.
Maternity clothes:  my fav to wear is a preggo cami and jamie pants
Stretch marks: yes, but they are old new ones
Best moment this week: hearing my grandsons heartbeat today!
Missing the most: I miss deli sandwiches, Starbuck's frappaccinos,  and bending over comfortably
Food craving: nothing really....but I have been wanting some good apples from the orchard
Making you sick: nothing makes me sick but I do notice smells more and some of them bother me
Labor signs: none yet
Belly button in or out: still in
Wedding ring on or off:  don't have a ring
Moody or happy:  usually happy or tired
Looking forward to: seeing my daughter and son become parents....its the reason for the whole journey

Grandma is doing very well.  I'll try to ask her these questions a few more times to see how they change.

{Grandma ran into her old ballet instructor recently, who looked at her bump and exclaimed, "What is this?!"  Her reply: "I'm in love with my daughter."

Our nurse, Penny, called yesterday to tell us that grandma failed the 1-hour glucose screening test.  The test is done by drinking a sugary solution and having blood drawn an hour later, and checks for Gestational Diabetes.  Grandma was really disappointed, but I'm not throwing in the towel just yet.  I read (via Dr. Google) that only about a third of women who test positive on the glucose screen actually have the condition... so fingers crossed.  She goes back this weekend to do a repeat test, this time for 3 hours.  We should know the results at our OB appointment on the 17th.
